General, Addiction and Integrative Psychiatric Care:
-
Addiction is a challenging disorder which often requires a layered approach addressing neurobiologic, behavioral, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Dr. Lazarevic's unique background incorporates psychiatry with CAM therapies when appropriate. From moderation to abstinence, she helps you optimize your health keeping one eye on the risk/benefit of treatments, and another eye on subtle or stubborn patterns of addiction that linger years after last use.
Addictions addressed in treatment include (but are not limited to); alcohol, stimulants, tobacco, ecstasy/molly, opioids, cannabis, sedative-hypnotics, and behavioral addictions (sex, gambling, internet, etc)
At times substance issues are accompanied or proceeded by untreated mood disorders, behavioral addictions, disordered eating, or trauma. No matter the complexity, Dr Lazarevic is skilled to develop a treatment plan to match your needs, which may include certain medicines if appropriate (such as buprenorphine/suboxone, antabuse, campral, naltrexone with the ‘Sinclair Method’, amongst others.)
Please note, she does not administer vivitrol or sulocade.

This complementary approach is for the person who find psychotherapy and psychiatric medication are not helping them meet their health goals. Dr. Lazarevic’s approach is a blend of these 3 modalities, which examines the whole person (mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually), employs labs for multi-dimensional healing aiming for optimal functioning.
About the 3 modalities:
Integrative Medicine integrates complementary and alternative therapies (CAM) with conventional treatments to create a comprehensive care plan. CAM therapies include acupuncture, aromatherapy and essential oils, nutritional planning, dietary supplements, exercise, herbal medicine, hydrotherapy and sauna, massage, and meditation and breathwork.
Functional Medicine views gut health as central to health and delves into 'root causes' by assessing multiple physiological systems, such as inflammation/immune function, hormonal balance, nutritional status, and metabolic processes. This approach requires interpreting laboratory results differently from conventional medicine and at times using unique specialty labs.
Out of balance systems are deeply affected by lifestyle factors— poor diet, inadequate nutrients, stress, trauma, toxins, low exercise and poor sleep—which ultimately lay the ground work for chronic disease.
Regenerative Medicine takes a step further by utilizing treatments for the body’s repair, regeneration and restoration. While some areas of regenerative medicine may focus on aesthetics and anti-aging, EMPC applies these techniques to patients with chronic, debilitating diseases to bolster limitations in integrative and functional approaches.

Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs) are comprehensive reports that typically involve one or two interviews and multiple collateral contacts. These evaluations are conducted for prescribers referred to entities such as CPH, OPMC (in NY), or HAVEN (in CT) due to concerns related to behavioral health, mental health, or substance use issues.
IME's have a set fee which covers interviews, collateral contacts and documents review. Reports are typically completed within two weeks unless a significant amount of documentation is reviewed and records take time to be retrieved.
Dr. Lazarevic's IMEs are highly through which sets her apart from other evaluators in the field.

Prescribers—such as MDs, DOs, and PAs—monitored by CPH, HAVEN, and OPMC often require specialized guidance to balance their mental health needs with the demands of practicing medicine.
