Sonya Lazarevic MD

Medical Training: Dr. Lazarevic graduated from St. George's University School of Medicine and completed psychiatry residency at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Division where she served as Chief Resident.  She graduated from the Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at New York University.  Dr. Lazarevic is ABPN double board-certified in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, and ABPS integrative medicine board eligible.

Yoga Therapy

CAM and Psychotherapy Training: Prior to medical training, Dr. Lazarevic earned an M.S. in Social Work from Columbia University and an Advanced Yoga Teacher Certificate from the Integral Yoga Institute of New York. She taught multiple mind-body workshops in New York City while in private practice as a psychotherapist and yoga instructor.  Her foundational CAM training lies in yoga and meditation, which she began studying in the 1990's and continues today. Her comparatively shorter studies in CAM include: zen meditation with the Kwan Um School of Zen, gestalt and psychodynamic psychotherapy, MI, reiki, hypnosis, shiatsu, qi gong healing, and a 'laying of hands' folk healing art from Switzerland.

Self pay and aetna accepted

Evolution Medicine only accepts Aetna insurance plan. Before you make an appointment, please contact your insurance to clarify your plan's deductible and percent reimbursement for out of network, out-patient psychiatric care.   The office provides statements of paid sessions for patients to submit to out of network insurance carriers (through the EMR) for direct patient reimbursement.
